How many questions are on the exam? How much time is allowed? Is it different for the proctored exam versus on-line exam?
The exam consists of 110 questions that much be answered in 120 minutes (two hours). The same time is allowed for all Candidates regardless of how they take the test.
What does the test cover?
One hundred questions form the "core" of the exam. All Candidates complete those questions. An additional 10 questions are on electives chosen by the Candidate. There are four elective areas — COMSEC/TEMPEST, Counterintelligence, Intellectual Property, and Operations Security (OPSEC). The Candidates each choose two electives and must answer five questions from each of those areas.
What should I study for the core questions? For the electives?
Yes. See our Study References & Sources page. It contains a list of the documents that were sources for the question (including links so you can easily download them), both for the core and for the four electives.
Will reference material be available at the test sites?
No. Candidates are responsible for bringing their own references materials to the test. They can, however, bring their reference materials to the session either on paper or on a laptop, or both.
