ISP Exam Preparation Program

The Industrial Security Professional (ISP) program was launched by NCMS, The Society of Industrial Security Professionals, in 2003.  Its purposes include:

  • To provide recognition of the professional training and qualifications of veterans of industrial and government security, and
  • To provide guidelines for professional training needed by new security employees.

We learn in three different ways.  We read about a subject.  We hear it discussed.  We manipulate the information (touch an object, highlight a book, conduct a science experiment).  For each of us, two of the three usually work better than the other; however, the same two do not work for all individuals.  That is why this workbook has been written.  It is the authors’ hope that, used in conjunction with a close reading of the assigned materials and a planned series of about a dozen conference calls, this workbook will help you become a more knowledgeable security professional and help you pass the ISP exam.

The program “Syllabus” contained in the workbook contains an outline of the material we plan to cover each session.  Read the assigned materials and complete the corresponding sections of this workbook in advance.  Be sure to call in for the meeting, even if you were too busy to do that.  While you will get more out of the meeting if you are prepared, you will get nothing out of it if you neither prepare the material nor make the call.

On exam day, it won’t about luck.  It will be about knowledge, experience, preparation and test-taking discipline.  We won’t wish you “good luck.”  We trust that you “do well.”
